Substack is a different bird than Medium.
I’m active on both sites, but I confess, Medium has been my main platform for the past few years. Things have changed over there (again) so I’ve decided to buckle down and get serious about my Substack. So I’ve spent the last month reading everything I could get my hands on.
There are a lot of writers who say they’re Substack experts, but only a few of them feel like they add value to the basic setup rules. And there’s a certain vibe I want to create here so I’m excited to find tips that resonate with me.

One of the biggest concerns writers have on Substack is how to monetize. Some writers focus on gaining subscribers by giving everything away for free. Others paywall their best content and publish sneak peeks to entice readers to sign up.
