a poem
we randomly
assign
importance
to elements
that become things
other people crave
we see the
increasing
desire
to acquire
an idea
that feels
like a cloud
until the lies
crystallize
all the while
interest grows
pushing lesser
factors out
until the
larger streams
of curiosity
water it
in showers of light
and a downpour
of admiration
arrives in a rush
of affection
and things
others want
us to hold
until it falls
from our hands
and we lose it all
it dissolves
into dust
that sifts down
to cover
undiscovered
elements that
will become
the newest thirst
that drowns out
the world
