To surrender
to our fears
is to choose
a different path.
Where once there was
a certain track
doubt slips down
between the cracks
and we are slowly
threaded through
a minefield full
of musts and shoulds.
Where trepidation
dogs our steps
our inner whisper
goes unheard
by our deaf
and faithless ears.
Their expectations
shift our task
toward the place
where duty serves
and we are bound
to follow through.
The way toward
totality
is streaming through
the channeled route
and tumbling down
the rounded rocks.
the water always
finds its way
and as the striders
zip along
the tension of the
surface breaks;
and fear dissolves
in widening rings
and near the shore
a songbird sings.
