It’s Tree Langdon from Medium and Linked In.
As promised, here’s A New Word, An Idea, and A Question.
Take a moment this morning to breathe.
Close your eyes and breathe in. Hold it. Then breathe out slowly.
I hope you have a peaceful day.
A New Word
This is where I share a word that really should exist, one that should be in the dictionary.
Fluxision
Definition of fluxision
: A decision made when one is feeling indecisive. A decision made in a state of flux.
// A fluxision probably will be changed in the future.
// Under pressure, he made a snap fluxision.
An Idea
Change is cumulative over time
Have you ever decided to make changes in your life and found that it was harder than you thought? Have you tried time and time again to make a change, only to give up?
Real change in how you’re functioning and how you’re engaging with the world becomes possible if you persist. You need to choose to make a change.
Once you choose to change, you open up the possibility of change.
Your superpower of choice can catapult you into the space of possibility where real change can occur.
When I say real change, I’m not talking about rearranging the furniture. I’m talking about the change that can occur in how you are functioning and how you are engaging with the world.
This becomes your new reality.
Our instant gratification mindset asks for instant change.
Don’t stop what you are doing if you are in a healing process — just keep going. I don’t know when that moment of change will happen, but if you keep going, you will get there.
Change is cumulative over time.
We are accustomed to our behavior patterns.
We can choose to continue the patterns but think about change while we’re behaving the same old way. It’s possible to continue to do one thing while you’re exploring different possibilities. By exploring possibilities, you move closer to the moment of change.
Change begins to happen in the instant of the choice.
Most people don’t go from one process to another without going through the exploration of the new process. It takes time and you need to be patient with yourself while you work through the possibilities. Then the choice is made and the change occurs.
Change happens in an instant
It happens at the moment of choice but sometimes it’s not visible right away.
When you’re trying to change how you function in the world, it takes a while for you to untangle yourself from the reasons why you think you’re doing that. The compensation strategy you’re using needs untangling. It takes a while to let go.
Letting go is stopping choosing what we have been choosing.
You may think you’ve been trying and trying and nothing is changing, but you don’t realize — change is happening. You just aren’t able to see it yet. You are getting there.
Keep going. You’ll be happy that you did.
A Question
Have you ever made a decision under pressure and regretted it later? What decision did you make and what would you rather have chosen instead?
If you enjoyed reading this post, share it with your friends.
I'm trying to come up with an answer to the question but I'm drawing blanks! I can't think of any decision under pressure. Unless we count buying new cars lol. I once went to the dealership to get a set of wiper blades and ended up leaving with a whole SUV 😂
