I’ve always been a writer.
At first, my words were scribbled notes in a private journal.
When I finally decided to share, it was a huge step to post a poem online. It felt risky and I was afraid of what others might think.
But the more I posted my words, the more I realized they weren’t just for me.
I didn’t know that writing could be a conversation. I discovered that sharing would give me something in return.
Your voices brought new perspectives. Your thoughts created a reflection of myself I hadn’t seen before. I was growing, without even meaning to.
And somewhere along the way, friendships formed. Not the kind I had planned for, but the kind that snuck up on me, steady and real.
What started as pixels and passing comments became late-night talks, laughter, and a quiet understanding between people who just got it. Who got me.
What once felt distant wasn’t distant at all. Now I love my online community and that’s where this idea began;
What would happen if we each contributed one line in a poetry collaboration?
I’ll give you the prompt, collect your musings, and put them together in a post.
Here goes.
With the prompt "wingspan," write a single poetic line that explores the theme of flight and flying. Will we soar, struggle, glide, or falter? What lifts us? What holds us back?
Metaphors are welcome. Be mystical and mysterious. It’s better if we don’t get a lot of lines with the word “wingspan”.
This is a free-verse poem.
One line per poet. Please keep it under 10 syllables. Shorter is perfect.
One line per poet.
Put your contribution in the comments below. Lets watch the magic unfold, one line at a time.
This poem will be open for about a week or until activity slows to a stop.
I’ll make some minor edits and post the poem when it’s complete, so stay tuned.
Thank you all for participating.
A gifted feather becomes a quill, ink flows and soars across pages.
The broken wing like my broken heart took many years to mend before I could fly again.
