And - just for the beauty of it, I can’t resist posting this - not for this poem collaboration but reminded by it-just because it deserves to be read over and over:
Here is the poem "The Windhover" by Gerard Manley Hopkins:
To Christ our Lord
I caught this morning morning's minion, king-
dom of daylight's dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate's heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird, – the achieve of, the mastery of the thing!
Brute beauty and valour and act, oh, air, pride, plume, here
Buckle! AND the fire that breaks from thee then, a billion
Times told lovelier, more dangerous, O my chevalier!
No wonder of it: shéer plód makes plough down sillion
Wow that is nice to share something like that you are good in it
join us if you'd like!
I will join
I’ve collected the responses and written the poem, but will be posting another collaboration soon!
My wide wings take me soaring slowly higher
ah, this brings me peace, thanks so much for joining us.

Shine, and blue-bleak embers, ah my dear,
Fall, gall themselves, and gash gold-vermilion
Beautiful - thanks so much for sharing this poem
"Stirred for a bird" is the line that caught my heart.
The beating heart of a bird in flight becomes the rhythm of the wind
This is lovely, thanks for contributing to this collaboration!
At first, her wings hung heavy with past horrors, but when freedom beckoned she soared into all she was meant to be.
this is lovely, thanks for joining the group
And as I fly I feel free at last, free at last, thank Goodness I am free at last!
There's nothing quite like the feeling of flying free
I see birds in our fight for freedom for they have the ability to soar.
Thanks for this lovely contribution to the collaboration!
Thank you and I really enjoy your posts. 👏
deliverance in a leap of faith, my ascent a soaring reach beyond my dreams
ooh, deliverance is a great addition to the collaboration, thanks
And when restored, hesitantly fluttering; they extend the span of a legion of warriors
This is a great line to add to the collaboration, Thanks!
The broken wing like my broken heart took many years to mend before I could fly again.
Beautiful line, thanks so much
a wingspan clipped by capitalism's violence, in a world where flying too high might get you sued, cancelled, fired, or even killed...
This is so complex and layered, thanks for joining the collaboration
I long to glide among the tree tops as effortlessly as the birds.
This is so exciting to read - the poem is becoming real
A gifted feather becomes a quill, ink flows and soars across pages.
I see the intricate imprint of the ink on the pages - thanks 💙
overcoming fear, i jump off, free fall into air, and then feel the wind lift and carry me higher
Take the chance and let the freedom of the wind lift you up - love it 💙
My feathers caress the waves of ether releasing me from gravity’s bonds.
this is a soft and gentle contribution to the poem 💙
Freedom winds divert my patterned flight
What a lovely beginning to our poetry collaboration! 💙
