Resetting My Routine
It's time to make a change.
I’ve been struggling with my routine for the past couple of weeks.
Writing for both Medium and Newsbreak, I’m a bit stretched.
They are two very different platforms for writers.
Newsbreak pays a much higher rate than Medium, but Medium is where my community thrives.
Medium allows me to write about anything I want to. That’s important to me.
The feedback from other writers is usually relevant, and I know you’ll let me know if you don’t agree with my opinion, but you’ll be polite about it.
Newsbreak is looking for articles about local communities in the United States. Well-researched articles about philosophy or world events aren’t rewarded by their algorithm right now.
The comments are abysmal. I used to read them but now I ignore them completely.
Initially, I enjoyed the challenge of the two platforms, but focusing on two entirely different styles pulled me in opposite directions.
I was finding it a struggle to focus on the needs and requirements of both algorithms, resulting in a case of the dreaded resistance.
Writing became a chore and I began to resent the demand on my time.
A good friend of mine, Trista, wrote an article about resetting her routine and it resonated.
I am learning how to trust the universe and listen to my heart.
My heart is telling me to scale back and focus on one thing at a time.
I’m going to write for only one platform in a day, then take the rest of the day to enjoy nature.
Here are a couple of recent stories that you might enjoy.

Tree, thanks for emailing this to me. What a coincidence you write this, I was wondering how you, with everything you were already doing in a day on Medium and Slack and then taking on News Break too, could manage it all.
The only way I can do it is to shut everything out for between 6-10 hours per day. This week I've found I enjoy doubling up by making a Medium and a NB story from one. I tailor the original to Medium's requirements and then adapt another copy to NB.
Your way sounds cool and I am glad you've found a way to do both. And still have a life, lol! Karen
Oh God, Tree. I so need a saner schedule. Maybe I'll try assigning different days to different things. Trying to split the day 6 ways is exhausting. This was a great post. Has Newsbreak crashed for you yet? I've heard some people say their gravy train ended.
